JUAMI 2023 was held in Nairobi, Kenya, June 18 – 30. The local host was the University of Nairobi, and participants were housed in the Nairobi Safari Club Hotel, just a short walk from the university campus.

To get some insights into JUAMI schools please watch our video. You are also encouraged to request to join the JUAMIexchange Google group to be able to receive notifications about the program.

Taking place over a two-week period in Nairobi, the program included tutorial level and research level talks by renowned international speakers on experimental materials science, electrochemistry and sustainable energy, clean water, and solar fuel production. It also involved team-based hands-on practical tasks and included training in crafting and writing competitive collaborative project proposals.

Program Features

JUAMI schools feature tutorials on cutting-edge energy materials topics, hands-on experiments and learning activities, and research seminars by top materials scientists. By providing full financial support for students to participate in the entire two-week program, JUAMI fellows are able to completely immerse themselves in the experience, see problems from different perspectives, gain new skills and inspiration for tackling research questions, and develop lasting relationships.
